Martis Camp Residence

In the famed Martis Camp community near Lake Tahoe, we created a sophisticated, livable retreat for a repeat client. Surrounded by natural beauty, the modern house is thoughtfully integrated into the alpine environment. The design responds to the natural characteristics of the site, with its gentle downslope and granite outcroppings, through a stepped form that follows the topography. The rectilinear massing stretches across the site with a cantilevered end that hovers over the undulating site. Within the house, the restrained, neutral interior is defined by a series of glass hallways that culminate in dramatic framed views of towering pine trees, further immersing occupants in the striking landscape.
