Great Highway Residence

This multi-family residence is designed around two defining features: the Pacific Ocean and the Sunset Dunes. The latter is San Francisco’s newest park, a pedestrian promenade on what was formerly The Great Highway. Given this context, the design yields to the landscape and the public realm, allowing both to take center stage. At street level, The new facade’s smooth cement panels create a blurring effect against vertically oriented wood siding above. The cool-toned wood complements the two expansive window openings framed in powder-coated aluminum. The interior is organized around the floor-to-ceiling window wall and the ocean views behind them. Wide oak plank floors, bleached oak millwork, concrete counters, and trimless white walls complete the sun-streaked canvas.
